Local Spotlight: Lander Children’s Museum

History and Mission

The Lander Children’s Museum was created in 2000. It has seen plenty of growth through expanding its exhibits and has been in its current location since 2008. The museum’s mission is to inspire and encourage curiosity and creativity in children by means of a variety of interactive exhibits.

The Exhibits

There are five main areas. See below for a description of each one.

• S.T.E.M.: S.T.E.M. stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. With the S.T.E.M. kits, your children will have the opportunity to learn about and interact with drones, robots, circuits, coding, and more.
• Discovery Play: The imagination play children partake in here is a key developmental area.
• Nature: Here, students get to interact with and learn all about the natural life they see around them every day.
• Art/Drama: Students get to dress up and create something new in this exhibit.
• Toddler Room: The Toddler Room is where the little ones can play and interact with one another.
