2022 Ford Mustang: Power & Performance
The base model of the 2022 Mustang is equipped with a 2.3L GTDI I-4 engine that comes with a standard 6-speed manual transmission. A 10-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission with paddle shifters is available as an option, which does have an impact on the Mustang’s fuel efficiency. The power this engine can produce are 310 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.
There’s also the Selectable-Effort Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) feature that provides steering control that fits both your mood and the needs of the road. The first setting is Comfort, which has the lowest amount of steering effort and is great for everyday driving.
Next is Normal, a midway effort that allows you to engage more but still provides a level of steering ease. Finally, Sport demands an increased steering effort that delivers a more immediate connection to the road.
2022 Ford Mustang: Fuel Efficiency
Overall, the fuel economy of the 2022 Mustang is solid. What does affect it is the choice of transmission. With the standard 6-speed manual transmission, the Mustang gets an EPA-estimated 21 city/30 highway MPG.
The manual ratings are great for a sport-minded vehicle, but they do get a bit of an upgrade when the 10-speed automatic transmission is chosen. With that, the Mustang gets an EPA-estimated 21 city/32 highway MPG.
Since both transmissions share the same city rating, it’s safe to say you’ll have no trouble with the daily commute, especially with all the glances you’ll get in this stylish model. The major difference, however, is the economy rating for the highway.
With the automatic transmission having two additional points means it’s the preferable choice if you’re looking to take your Mustang farther on the road or do laps at the track.
2022 Ford Mustang: Packages
Ford has provided a set of packages designed to enhance performance as well as style. The first of these is the Black Accent Package with Striking Wheel Design that includes 19-inch x 8.5-inch Ebony Black-painted aluminum wheels, Black front and rear badges, a blade decklid spoiler, and a painted roof. Another stylish package is the Wheel & Stripe Package option, which provides low-gloss black painted pockets to the wheels and striking stripe graphics on the front end.
When it comes to performance, the 2.3L High Performance Package includes many features such as a 3.55 limited-slip rear axle, active valve performance exhaust, engine-spun aluminum instrument panel, GT performance Package front splitter and belly pan, and much more.
