Heavy-Duty Towing Technology in the Ram 2500

Ram 2500 InteriorTo match its incredible towing capacity, the 2022 Ram 2500 offers a wide variety of available technology to help you move more, whether for work or play. The optional auto-level rear air suspension features a Bed Lowering Mode that quickly brings the truck to its lowest level, so you can hook up your trailer more easily.

Making your towing experience easier, the 2022 Ram 2500 has the available Trailer Reverse Steering Control (TRSC) feature. This simplifies the process of reversing your trailer by allowing you to control its direction using a trailer steering knob housed in the center stack. While using the knob, the system controls your Ram 2500’s steering wheel.

Stay in Control

When you’re towing in difficult or very adverse road conditions, the 2022 Ram 2500 has technology to mitigate that. There’s a group of four features that directly address the concerns of the driver towing a trailer or material through these hazardous conditions. They are:

  • Electronic Stability Control
  • Trailer Sway Control
  • Electronic Roll Mitigation
  • Adaptive Cruise Control

This suite of interlocking features gives you the confidence to tackle any type of terrain in any condition. If you’re driving over snow-covered or wet roads, Electronic Stability Control is going to help you maintain control over your vehicle. While the Trailer Sway Control keeps your trailer in line with your 2500 Ram 2500 and prevents it from becoming a potential hazard for you or other drivers.

The Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path and Trailer Detection feature, when combined, offer an excellent solution to the issue of navigating heavy traffic with a trailer. They act together in scanning the blind spots beside and behind your vehicle to maintain trailer safety. At the same time, it automatically senses and takes into consideration the length of your trailer. This is something that other trucks require manual effort to do, which gives you even more confidence when changing lanes.

Eyes on All Sides

Another available feature is the 360-degree Surround View Camera with Trailer Reverse Guidance View. This adjustable display screen uses cameras to give you a clear perspective of both sides of your truck, as well as your trailer.

The 2022 Ram 2500 also offers a Trailer Camera Prep that lets you set up two additional cameras, either on or inside your trailer for even greater visibility.

Even more lines of sight become available with the introduction of Trailer Tow Mirrors with Spotter Lamps. These are mounted on moveable arms that can swung out, giving you a much better view of the road behind you, allowing a wide and clear look at your trailer.

A minor but convenient feature is the Trailer Hitch Light. This light lets you have a better view of your trailer hitch during the day or late at night. Whenever you need to take on a towing operation, setup is simple with the help of this light.

Keep Your Tires in Check

When hauling large recreational equipment or heavy materials, it helps to have some extra insight into critical components, like your tires. The optional Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring system gives you live pressure readings for up to four trailers. On top of that, you can use the available Trailer Light Check to make sure everything is working properly before taking off.

To ensure top performance and continued safety, it is strongly recommended that tire rotation is a regular part of your towing maintenance. As you’ll be towing tremendous weights, that’s going to put significant wear on your wheels. Using the diagnostic features above, check your tires before every towing operation. This way, you’ll put yourself ahead of any potential issue.
